Since being elected, Richard has been an advocate for his constituents, consistently voicing their concerns to East West Rail and Department for Transport ministers.
Until January 2025, all schools were exempt from VAT as they were considered eligible bodies under the Education Act. According to the VAT Act 1994, the provision of education or vocational training by an eligible body, along with closely related goods and services, was VAT-exempt.
Richard is committed to protecting farmland from opportunistic, short-term solutions to clean energy goals and preserving the countryside from a proliferation of ten-foot solar panels. As a CPRE Rooftop Solar Champion, Richard advocates for rooftop solar as a viable energy solution.
Richard has championed the rights of park home residents, ensuring they receive fair treatment and necessary support. Following the pandemic, Richard fought for those with irregular energy supplies, such as single energy meters or heating oil, to receive their cost-of-living support payments.
