Richard signs cross-party letter seeking urgent clarity and support for wedding industry

Weddings Sector letter

Richard has today signed a cross-party letter to the Business Minister calling on support for the Wedding Industry.

The letter calls on the government to provide immediate sector support and a plan for reopening to return confidence to the sector and save tens of thousands of viable wedding businesses and many more jobs.

Suggestions include engagement with the sector to understand whether venues will be allowed more than 50 guests after Easter, cash grants and the extension of schemes such as the temporary VAT reduction to 5% and business rates exemption.

Commenting, Richard said: "The wedding sector has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic and I urge the government to support these businesses."
