It was a close run thing but the worthy winner in my competition to find the best Independent Shop in North Bedfordshire goes to Gilby's of Sandy. Gilby's drew votes from across the constituency, not just Sandy, and is clearly very well regarded as the place to go to for hardware, ironmongery, locksmith services and much more.
Congratulations also to our gallant farm shop runners-up, Pells and Browns of Stagsden.
After hundreds of votes were cast, many congratulations to The Four Horsemen in Sandy for their very worthy win. Clearly much loved and an important and cherished part of the Sandy community.
Well done to previous winner The Rose, Biggleswade and to St Johns Arms, Melchbourne for making the final three and pushing our winner right to the line.
They say it's easy to reach the top but much harder to maintain the number 1 position - but not in the case of Pecoro who have again romped home to claim the prize of best Cafe or Restaurant in North Bedfordshire as voted for by constituents.
Pecoro continues to serve up top quality and delicious food and drink and is clearly a destination venue in Sandy and across the whole area. Many congratulations for reclaiming the crown. Notable mentions to our fabulous finalists The Plough at Bolnhurst and Brew & Renew also of Sandy.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that Sandy has achieved a clean sweep of winners across all three categories in the competition.
