Earleir this month, Richard returned to the site of the Bedford Roman Villa Project on their penultimate day of digging on Manton Lane in Bedford.
Richard Fuller MP said:
The site, which experts believe could have been part of a complex which oversaw the entire food production of the Ouse Valley in Roman Britain, has been buried for well over a Millennium, but thanks to the hard work of volunteers it is being found and catalogued.
During my visit I saw the walls and foundations of what was likely to be one of the administrative buildings on the site. I also had a chance to clean some pottery and to dig some of the earth away during uncovering. It was a tremendous pleasure to be on site again for the first time in a decade.
