A1 and A421 closures this weekend and next week

Highways diversion routes

The A1 northbound between Tempsford and Wyboston and the A421 eastbound between Renhold and Black Cat will be closed from 9pm on Friday 24th July until 5am on Monday 27th July for the installation of central reserve.

Please follow the planned diversions.

A1 northbound:

  • exit A1 northbound at Tempsford interchange onto St Neots Road
  • take A428 towards St Neots
  • re-join A1 northbound at Wyboston interchange

A421 eastbound:

  • exit A421 at Cardington onto A603
  • follow A603 towards Sandy
  • join A1 northbound at Sandy roundabout

Additionally, the A1 northbound will be closed between 9pm on Monday July 27th until 5am on Tuesday July 28th although by then a different diversion will be in place as follows due to the reopening of the A421 eastbound:

  • head west along A421 towards Bedford
  • exit A421 westbound at Renhold interchange
  • loop back on A421 eastbound towards Black Cat
