The Conservative Party's clear plan for a Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders and a stronger country

This week at Conservative Party Conference, the Shadow Cabinet announced a number of major policies which included among others:

  • Abolishing stamp duty, helping millions to own their own home, move, or downsize.
  • Cutting £47 billion of wasteful government spending and use the savings to cut taxes and slash the deficit under our Golden Economic Rule.
  • Leaving the ECHR so Parliament, not foreign courts, decides who comes to Britain.
  • Doubling apprenticeships, giving young people real skills and proper careers.
  • Reversing Labour’s chaos, protecting our borders and making work pay again.

A video summarising the announcements can be watched at https://fb.watch/CEJuXcONs8/

Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Richard Fuller MP said:

These announcements are the product of the work of Kemi and her entire Shadow Cabinet to create credible policies we can deliver on, based on Conservative principles.

As Kemi said herself, the Labour Party goes wrong when it follows its principles and the Conservative Party goes wrong when it doesn't follow its own principles and this set of policy announcements is based on strong Conservative principles for a stronger economy and stronger borders.

The Labour Party came into government with no plan. They took the wrong decisions when taxing jobs, cutting the winter fuel payment and cancelling the Rwanda deterrent. Now the economy is weaker, growth has halved and our country is living beyond its means – all whilst a border crisis wages on with record illegal entries into the UK.

In setting out a Conservative plan for a stronger economy, the Conservative team highlighted how Britain is living beyond its means, locked into high spend, high debt, and higher taxes. That is why it will abolish stamp duty on primary residences and introduce a 'golden rule' to get the deficit down and our economy back on track. Only the Conservatives understand that we must live within our means to build a strong economy which provides for well-maintained public services. Too much tax and too much state intervention risks the UK entering a new Labour debt crisis, which would endanger jobs and public services for our children and grandchildren.

On stronger borders, the Party set out a detailed plan to take control of our borders once and for all by leaving the ECHR, executing the BORDERS plan and removing 750,000 illegal immigrants who have no right to be here. For a secure and strong society, you need stronger borders.
