This week, Richard met with the CPRE The countryside charity in Westminster.

Richard Fuller MP said:

CPRE do a magnificent job highlighting issues of importance to rural Britain.

In my time as an MP, I have had a great working relationship with CPRE Bedfordshire and have been proud to support their campaigns on protecting our hedgerows and promoting rooftop solar on our large commercial buildings - think A421 and A1!

This week it was time to “take it up a level” to share thoughts with National CPRE Chief Executive Roger Mortlock and Public Affairs Manager, Ed Molyneux.

We found common ground again on solar energy and the crucial importance of policies that give priority to rooftop solar. Both the CPRE and I share an opposition to the very large solar “farms” which threaten to transform our rural landscape.

We also covered the government’s proposals for new towns and some of the major issues to be addressed should the government select Tempsford as much of the land is flood plain. And I was keen to build on my discussions with the RSPB and encourage CPRE to work with local residents across North Bedfordshire to put protecting our rural character - even as we go through an era of major change - at the heart of our approach.
