In Parliament last week, Richard led the debate by Official Opposition to Labour’s jobs tax when the bill came before the House of Commons at second reading. This is a large increase in employer National Insurance contributions that most economists believe will result in lower wages, fewer jobs and less economic growth.
Richard Fuller MP said:
At the election, the Labour Party never mentioned their intention to increase National Insurance - in fact they explicitly said they would not introduce taxes on working people, which is exactly what they are now doing.
I was grateful for the support of nearly every opposition party in Parliament but sadly the measure passed easily with Labour’s bulletproof majority.
