Richard has championed the rights of park home residents, ensuring they receive fair treatment and necessary support. Following the pandemic, Richard fought for those with irregular energy supplies, such as single energy meters or heating oil, to receive their cost-of-living support payments. Due to Richard’s interventions and collaboration with parliamentary colleagues, every park homeowner became eligible for the £400 Energy Bill Support Scheme Alternative Provisions, protecting them from rising energy prices.
Additionally, Richard joined the campaign to change the inflation metric for park home pitch fees from the historically higher RPI to the lower CPI. This change passed all stages in the House of Commons in under 12 minutes.
Finally, Richard is aware of the campaign to abolish the 10% commission charged on the sale of park homes and was pleased to see the Government commit to examining the issue in more detail. This was confirmed by the Minister of State for Housing in June in response to a question by Richard's Conservative colleague Sir Christopher Chope. Richard will continue to fight for the rights and welfare of park home residents.
