Chancellor's Reaction to latest ONS figures

New jobs figures from the ONS this week show there are over 4.1 million more people in work since 2010, showing the government's plan is working

There are now over 33 million people in employment, an increase of over 4.1 million since 2010 and up 76,000 over the last year.

The figures also show the employment rate is near record highs at 75 per cent, which is up by 4.8 points since 2010. There are 1.3 million people in unemployment, down by over 1.1 million since 2010 and regular pay is continuing to grow and outpace inflation, up 6.1 per cent in November 2023 to January 2024.  There are also  437,000 fewer unemployed young people since 2010.

Richard Fuller MP said:

We have more than halved inflation from 11.1 to 4 per cent and real wages are rising. Official jobs figures released this week show there are now almost 33.2 million people in employment, an increase of over 4.1 million since 2010 with payrolled employment at a record high.

We are sticking to our plan to grow the economy and deliver the jobs hardworking families need and it is working.
