In a statement to the House last week, the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps  commented that "Across the country a number of franchises are failing to provide the reliable services that passengers require."

We will soon hear from the Williams Review, which is looking at widespread reforms across the railway to ensure that customers are at the heart of the system. Richard said: "I know rail users in NE Beds will agree with Grant Shapps. The Williams Review will also consider the issues of accessibility at railway stations - plans are already underway for Biggleswade and I look forward to working with the Arlesey RUG team to look for long term improvements there as well."
