Richard visited Anglian Water's Wyboston Treatment Centre with local Borough and Parish Councillors and officials last week. Since December 2023, Richard has been actively supporting constituents across the constituency including Wyboston, Tempsford and Great Barford, who have suffered from wastewater overflow and flooding due to heavy rainfall. This visit was part of a follow up from the actions he has been taking to find long-term solutions with Anglian Water for these residents.
Speaking afterwards, Richard Fuller MP said:
Had my latest visit to a water treatment centre on Friday, this time to Wyboston which is another part of the constituency where a number of residents had issues with flooding and sewage back-up over the Christmas and New Year period.
It's clear this water treatment centre has limited space for expansion, and so the work that Anglian Water are currently doing to investigate areas where rainwater and surface water is getting into sewage pipes in the areas around Wyboston is so important.
Later this year I plan to conduct visits with the Local Authority to make sure that the areas where surface water regular builds up and causes leakage into the sewage system are clear of debris and flowing smoothly. This should greatly reduce the risks of overwhelming the waste-water treatment infrastructure and the associated issues of sewage back-up that we've seen in recent years.
