Last week, Richard spoke in the House of Commons debate on the Police Grant Report for England and Wales for 2022/23. This is how Parliament approves the central police funding allocation for each force every financial year. Richard's contribution to the debate can be watched here or read here.
Speaking after the debate, Richard Fuller MP said:
Crime remains a major concern for many residents across my constituency and much remains to be done to ensure that all constituents feel safe and protected at all times.
There is no question however that we are on the right track, and I took the opportunity during the debate on the Police Grant to highlight ten pieces of good news.
From a new funding formula for Bedfordshire, increasing numbers of Police officers, new hare coursing legislation, a reduction in burglaries and knife crime and increased prosecutions for serious sexual violence. Coupled with the hard work and commitment of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Festus Akinbusoye, and the Chief Constable and his officers, things are certainly moving in the right direction.
