On Friday, Richard took part in the Second Reading debate on a Private Member's Bill introduced by Barry Gardiner MP which aimed to reform employment law on so-called "fire and rehire" practices.

Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire and Business Select Committee Member, said:

There was widespread unanimity across the House that measures should be introduced to prevent unscrupulous employers exploiting this practice, however the feeling on the government benches was that this Bill was the wrong approach and a code of practice would be better suited to achieve the desired objectives.

Even Bill sponsor, Barry Gardiner MP acknowledged that his Bill would not actually outlaw the practice.

Richard's full contribution to the debate can be watched here.
