Richard Fuller MP recently 'cut the ribbon' to open a new secure cycle hub at Biggleswade Railway Station.
The secure area of the hub can hold up to 44 cycles accessed only by a fob available for free from the ticket office. It also has CCTV, two charging bays for electric bikes and a maintenance area. The total capacity for cycle parking is 102 spaces
The project was funded through the Department for Transport's Cycle-Rail fund, with a 10 per cent contribution from Central Bedfordshire Council.
Speaking after the event, Richard said:
I was delighted to open the new cycle hub at Biggleswade station.
The government wants to make cycling part of everyday life and is investing over £2 billion in cycling and walking over the course of this Parliament to encourage people to change the way they travel to more sustainable modes such as cycling, walking and using the bus and the new hub along with the planned bus interchange will help with this.
This new bike hub at Biggleswade Station will help give commuters and rail users the incentive to leave their cars at home, use sustainable transport and enjoy the health benefits too.
