Richard has co-signed a letter to the Chancellor, along with other MPs regarding the need for investment in the East Coast Main Line. Following publication of the letter, RIchard said: "I have joined colleagues in signing a letter to the Chancellor, ahead of next week's Budget, regarding the East Coast Main Line route. Urgent investment is needed, as the ECML can no longer cope with the demands placed upon it. Bottlenecks at Welwyn viaduct cause particular issues for rail users in the constituency, and I hope the Chancellor will consider the case we have made for the significant investment that is needed."

The letter to the Chancellor is below.
