Richard has this week pulled together a North Bedfordshire Water Management Alliance to deliver a coherent local plan to tackle local water management issues.
Commenting, Richard Fuller MP said:
Over the past year, I have met with residents and Parish Councils to discuss a range of water management issues across North Bedfordshire: from discharges of untreated water into our rivers to flooding, and from water quality monitoring to ensuring water supplies are secure during periods of drought.
We have a number of statutory and voluntary groups that care about our rivers, our environment and our countryside or which manage our water supplies or oversee long term plans for our area. But many constituents have told me how frustrated they are to hear one response from one agency about the causes of problems and a completely different answer from another agency. There can be benefits from pulling together these groups to create a shared vision and to empower that entity with support at a local and national level.
So, following discussions with a number of groups, I have prepared a draft plan for a “North Bedfordshire Water Management Alliance” and over the coming weeks, I will be taking further steps to form the core group of relevant organisations to piece together a coherent local plan.
