Richard comments on Scotland's new hate crime laws

At the beginning of April, Scotland's Hate Crime and Public Order Act came into force.

Commenting, Richard Fuller MP said:

Under Scotland’s chilling new hate crime law most people are not guaranteed to be treated in the same way as author J K Rowling.

Policing everyday speech is NOT merely repeating the efforts to combat racism in the past: it’s a form of state enforced “consensus” that should be anathema to a liberal society.

Courageous and high profile individuals are not the target: ordinary people are.
