Earlier this week, Richard closed the Budget Debate, accusing the Government of putting party before country.
Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Richard Fuller MP said:
This Budget was designed to put party before country and save the careers of the Chancellor and Prime Minister by placating their backbenchers with huge welfare giveaways. It offered nothing - not a single measure that would inject any growth into the economy.
Working people, those who get out of bed every day and work hard to improve life for themselves and their children, are being asked to pay even more tax and suffer a cut in their living standards to finance the Chancellor's choice to increase spending on Welfare.
It was designed to dupe and mislead the public, the media, Parliament and the financial markets. We’ve known for some time that Keir Starmer, and his government are utterly incompetent, but I don’t believe even the most cynical of us thought they would plumb such depths of duplicity and shameless self-preservation off the backs of hard-working people.
