Last Sunday, the very first Shortstown Local Produce Market took place on the Square at Beauvais Avenue.
Mrs Susan Lousada, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, officially opened the market, which is run by volunteers Every stall is a local grower, baker or maker. The historic Shorts Building was open too, with an airship display.
After visitng the market, Richard Fuller MP said:
It was a fantastic inaugural local produce market at Shortstown last Sunday!
Lots of stalls and many doing a brisk trade like J's Traybakes. Jason told me he got started as a side hustle to his main cheffing job but now runs his Wixams based business full time. Wonderful.
Also got to look around the Shorts Building which has been acquired for the community by Shortstown Parish Council. So much history. Proudly Bedfordian.
Thank you to New Cardington Residents Association for inviting me.
