At the end of November, Richard joined the launch of the 2021 report from the CPRE - The Countryside Charity on the State of Brownfield. The launch was also attended by Chris Pincher., Minister of State for Housing
Speaking after the event, Richard Fuller MP said:
Each year CPRE, The Countryside Charity, produces a report on the availability of brownfield land for housing development. In general, the more we are able to use brownfield land, the less the impact on our rural areas, the greater the efficiencies from public services and the smaller the carbon footprint.
I was delighted to join the launch of the 2021 report which highlighted that there is capacity for over 100,000 new homes on brownfield land in East Anglia and for nearly 1.2m homes nationally. That national figure is up 10% in just three years. It is frustrating that there is no central driving force working with local authorities and developers to bring forward these developments to relieve pressure on housing demand.
