Richard asks Chancellor if government departments have been tasked to improve productivity through the adoption of artificial intelligence

The Multi Year Spending Review is due next week and will set the levels of spending for each government department for the next three, potentially four, years.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Large sections of the Labour Party are at war with the Chancellor on a number of fronts with demands that she breaks her rules that would limit taxes and borrowing. The Prime Minister is already rolling back on winter fuel payments, welfare cuts and the two child cap for benefits, each of which will increase spending further.

It’s a mess, but the government is fortunate that the next few years promise huge efficiency gains in delivering public services especially as Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools become mainstream.

So in Treasury Questions in the House of Commons recently, I prodded the minister to include targets for AI-driven efficiencies that are at least one sign of hope for hard pressed taxpayers.
