On Monday in the House of Commons, Richard questioned Housing Minister, the Rt Hon Stuart Andrew MP, on progress he has made in delivering an infrastructure-first approach for planning and house building. The full question and answer can be watched here.

Commenting, Richard Fuller MP said:

In my question to the Minister, I raised the situation in Biddenham where several years ago land was allocated for a GP surgery to serve the population growth in Biddenham and neighbouring Bromham. Most of the new homes have been built and yet it is only later this year that work will start on the long overdue GP surgery.

I stressed that Infrastructure First, as the name suggests ensures that the infrastructure – roads, schools, GP surgeries – comes before people move into new homes and was a manifesto commitment in 2019, is critical to ensuring that services like GP surgeries are developed in line with housing growth as that approach would have ensured that the GP surgery in Biddenham would have already have been built.
