50% 2nd dose

Richard has welcomed the news that half of UK adults have now received their second Covid-19 vaccine dose, giving them the best possible protection from the virus.

Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire said:

Vaccinated people are less likely to get Covid-19 with symptoms, be admitted to hospital or die, and there is growing evidence that vaccinated people are less likely to pass the virus onto others. That is why the government has made it its priority to give the people most at risk their second vaccine dose – with more than half of the all adults in the UK having now received their second covid-19 vaccine, giving them the fullest possible protection from the virus.

75% of all adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine and the government  remains on track to offer all adults a first dose by the end of July.

This week, the Health Secretary has also set out the global efforts the government is taking to work more closely with our international friends and partners to identify early warning signs from animals and the environment. The government remains committed to supporting the equitable access to vaccines worldwide as one of the largest donors to the COVAX facility with over £500 million already committed - helping to distribute 1.3 billion doses of coronavirus vaccine to 92 developing countries so far this year.
