Richard recently attended the most recent meeting of the Water Management Partnership at Bedford Borough Hall.
Speaking afterwards, he commented:
There were excellent discussions and presentations from the agencies involved on topics as diverse as investment in infrastructure, regulations on the use of fertilisers and manure, understanding the usage and drainage of water used by carwashes across the area and risks and mitigation strategies relating to flooding of the A421.
With senior representatives attending from Bedford Borough Council, Anglian Water , The Environment Agency, National Highways, Great Ouse Rivers Trust, Natural England, BedsGOVET, The Waterway Trust, The NFU and CPRE, this is precisely what was intended when I first established this group.
For too long concerns and issues became bogged down and lost in the ether between the many agencies and environmental groups with responsibility and interest in protecting and managing all aspects of our water in the area.
Having everyone involved on a regular basis is already producing tangible results and I am grateful to everyone involved for giving up their time, and working so diligently, proactively and collaboratively to deliver the results we all want to see.
