The Environment Agency has contacted Richard to inform that they are proposing a 9% increase to all boat registration charges from January 2025. Their proposal takes into consideration the unforeseen increases in inflation in the past 3 years, which has impacted the running of their waterways. This increase will allow them to maintain their current level of service.

The proposals relate to the River Thames, Anglian Waterways and Upper Medway where the Environment Agency are the Navigation Authority for these waterways and set the charges for using or keeping boats on them. They register around 26,000 boats a year across these waterways.

Richard Fuller MP said:

The Environment Agency are inviting views from members of the public through a consultation that runs until midnight on August 16th so please act quickly to have your say.

The consultation can be accessed here.
