Further to meeting with Pathfinder Clean Energy (PACE) and Alpaca Communications to discuss their proposals for the Bedfordia Solar Farm, Richard Fuller MP visited the public consultation event in Clapham Village Hall last Thursday. Bedfordia Solar Farm is a proposal for a 223-hectare (551-acre) site off Twinwood Road which aims to generate 49.9MW of energy.
Richard said:
As a general principle I am in favour of increasing renewable energy although my strong preference is for rooftop solar exploiting the many warehouses that line some of the main transport arteries in my constituency.
I strongly oppose the 1,900 acre proposed solar farm in the North East of the constituency which has been universally condemned by the local Parish Councils, not least because it plans to be sited on 74% Best and Most Versatile (BMV) agricultural land - an unprecedented and completely unacceptable destruction of productive farmland.
I hold a less strident position on the much smaller Bedfordia proposal and would be interested to hear the views of local residents.
I encourage residents to have their say on the proposal. Your feedback is essential in shaping the future of this project.
The links below provide more information on the proposal. Any feedback on the consultation needs to be submitted to [email protected] before the deadline of March 13th 2025.
