In early October, Richard Fuller MP chaired the latest meeting of the Stop East Park Energy stakeholder group and commented:
The proposed East Park solar project will cover 1,900 acres, over 70% of which is classed as BMV (best and most versatile) agricultural land. If successful, then along with smaller operational and approved solar sites in the immediate area, it would create a solar corridor in excess of six miles in length and take out 2,800 acres of local land.
Soon after the meeting, East Park Energy submitted an application to the Planning Inspectorate who reported on October 31st that the application has been accepted for examination. This marks the start of the full application process and means that Brockwell Storage and Solar, the developer behind the plan, can announce the registration period for objections. At this point, everyone will have a chance to register as an ‘Interested Party’ and set out their objections to the Planning Inspectorate.
In preparation for this important stage, Stop East Park Energy is organising a community event open to all residents from across the impacted villages from 6–8pm, Thursday 6 November, Little Staughton Village Hall, MK44 2BX
