Image if Chinook Justice Campaign in Parliament

The Chinook Justice Campaign recently came to Parliament. On 2nd June 1994, an RAF Chinook helicopter crashed on the Mull of Kintyre killing all 25 passengers and 4 crew members.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Those killed included many of the most senior intelligence officers involved in Northern Ireland operations.

A recent BBC documentary highlighted a catalogue of ignored safety warnings and subsequently omitted evidence, with the initial inquiry embroiled in controversy for apportioning blame inappropriately and for failing to diligence reports of risks in the Chinook’s engine software.

The MoD has chosen to seal documents relating to the crash for one hundred years - meaning they won’t be released until 2094.

Quite naturally, those who lost partners and their children who lost their father or mother want to have full access to this information during their lifetimes.

And I agree with them. I attended the meeting and will support this campaign which is led in Parliament by Sorcha Eastwood MP for Lagan Valley.
