A1 North and Southbound closed this weekend

Black Cat A1 diversion map

The A1 north and southbound at Black Cat will be closed between Wyboston and Tempsford from 9pm on Friday 26th to 5am on Monday 29th June 2026 for drainage works and kerb installation. 

Please use the diversions that are in place:

𝐀𝟏 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝:

  • at Black Cat take A421 westbound towards Renhold
  • exit A421 westbound at Renhold Interchanging looping back on the A421 eastbound
  • re-join A1 northbound via A421 eastbound 

𝐀𝟏 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝:

  • exit A1 southbound at Wyboston Interchange onto A428 towards St Neots
  • take Barford Road
  • re-join A1 southbound at Tempsford

Work being conducted by Anglian Water along Hitchin Street is currently paused following an incident onsite last week where a member of Anglian Water's site team was injured. Work was expected to recommence this week pending the results of the ongoing investigation but the investigation into th
