On Sunday, Richard appeared on a number of media outlets as Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury to talk about the economy.
Speaking afterwards, he said:
After more than 2 years in office, the Labour government continues to make the same old mistakes; splurging money like it grows on trees, refusing to rein in public spending and borrowing £billions simply to pay the interest on the debt that they keep growing.
The inevitable conclusion, for the third budget in a row we fully expect the Chancellor to come back with a whole new raft of taxes to punish businesses and individuals for Labour's profligacy.
Enough is enough, Labour's history of tax, borrow and spend has always left the country poorer than when they come to power and it has to end before they completely wreck the economy.
