This week, Kemi Badenoch made it clear that we must root out identity politics in state institutions and that the murder of Henry Nowak is a seminal moment in the fight against racism and identity politics.
Commenting on Kemi's interview on Good Morning Britain, Richard Fuller MP said:
How do you begin to comprehend the circumstances of the horrific murder of Henry Nowak? The empathy demonstrated by Kemi Badenoch for the people at the centre of this – Henry and his family – is in my view a far better place to start than shrill slogans by politicians about what types of lives matter more than others.
Kemi told Good Morning Britain: “I have said that we need to find what we have in common, not what separates us. We all matter. Enough of this nonsense, where we keep separating everybody and splitting people into different groups. We are descending into tribalism. I do not want that. It is why I say that we should be a multiracial country, not a multicultural country. Let’s have one shared culture, British culture.”
This sentiment was also shared by Henry Nowak’s family, who asked that his death not be used to create division, and I agree. I believe we need to start by looking at our common ground.
