The Prime Minister’s failure to answer at PMQs

Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me about Prime Minister’s Questions and the Prime Minister's consistent failure to answer questions.

I have seen this week after week with this Prime Minister, who repeatedly avoids the question being asked and answers a different one instead. While Prime Ministers in the past have sought to score political points, they would at least make some effort to address the question put to them. It is an insult to both the British public and Parliament to leave such questions unanswered, particularly when they concern matters such as the Prime Minister’s appointment of Peter Mandelson as the UK’s Ambassador to the United States, rising energy bills, and the conflict with Iran.

On the issue of Peter Mandelson, the Leader of His Majesty’s Opposition, Kemi Badenoch MP, asked the Prime Minister six questions about whether he personally spoke to Peter Mandelson about his relationship with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein before appointing him as UK ambassador to Washington. The Prime Minister didn’t answer a single one.

I believe Kemi Badenoch was right to challenge the Prime Minister for avoiding questions and to highlight his duty to answer those put to him.

As His Majesty’s Official Opposition, my party will continue its efforts to secure the answers the public deserve.

Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Richard
