Major engineering work will affect Thameslink and Great Northern services between London and Peterborough / King’s Lynn over the weekends of Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February and Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd February.

On these days no trains will run between London King’s Cross and Peterborough although replacement bus services will be in place.

Further information about service plans for these weekend dates can be found at www.nationalrail.co.uk/ecdp

The first phase of ECDP has successfully introduced in-cab digital signalling to the commuter route between Finsbury Park and Moorgate in central London, with the lineside signals removed in May 2025.

The testing work taking place in February is the latest step in a process towards operating the first digitally signalled passenger trains on the main line through the Welwyn to Hitchin section from later this year. The rigorous process involves testing of the lineside equipment, and its interaction with the equipment on board the train, and with the signalling control in York ROC (Rail Operating Centre).
