Central Bedfordshire Council is running a consultation on their 'Active Travel' approach and want to hear from local residents, businesses, and community groups to gauge their views on the strategy, which sets out ambitious plans to make walking, wheeling, and cycling safer, easier, and more attractive across the area.
Key objectives of the strategy include:
- Investing in high-quality walking, wheeling, and cycling routes and secure cycle parking at key destinations such as schools, train stations, and leisure centres.
- Improving street safety, air quality, and accessibility, while reducing traffic congestion and the risk of collisions involving pedestrians and cyclists.
- Expanding opportunities for cycling sports and recreation, including BMX tracks, pump tracks, and mountain bike trails, to encourage active lifestyles.
- Encouraging developers and planners to design new housing and infrastructure that supports active travel from the outset.
The consultation is open until Friday, January 2nd 2026 and to have your say, please visit this link.
