Last month, Richard was the guest speaker at the AGM of Bedfordshire Association of Town and Parish Councils, held in Flitwick.
Speaking afterwards, Richard Fuller MP said:
Flood Management was the theme at the AGM. After informative presentations from our local council leads for flood management, the Environment Agency and Anglian Water, I took part in a Q and A from representatives of our Parish Councils.
I was really pleased to see the enhanced focus on this issue and the new levels of activity to unblock waterways and to mitigate the changes to rainfall patterns and our changing landscape. Next steps for me are to see a full mapping of types and locations of pollutants entering our main rivers - the Ouse and the Ivel; and to assist the North Bedfordshire Water Management Partnership to develop a strategic plan for how we might cope with existing problems and with the impact of Universal Studios and the potential new town at Tempsford.
