Last Saturday, Richard joined a walkabout in Biggleswade with the local Community Policing team, the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner, John Tizard, the Mayor of Biggleswade, Cllr Jonathan Woodhead, and Deputy Mayor, David Albone.
Richard Fuller MP said:
The force have been running a 'Safer Streets Scheme' over the summer months and it was a good opportunity to get out and speak to local residents and businesses to get their views on whether the scheme has been successful.
The overall sense was that the exercise had been worthwhile and I have no doubt that a heightened police presence will deliver greater public confidence in policing because they will have seen police officers about town; establish new and renewed connections between police officers and business owners and help to change the calculation of “novice” petty criminals and those involved in anti social behaviour because they will more regularly have seen a police officer about.
I am grateful to John Tizard for having invited me to join the walkabout and look forward to seeing more measures introduced that will further impact levels of crime across all our villages and towns.
