Just before the summer recess, Richard met with local resident, Juliet, at The Climate Coalition's mass lobby day in Westminster.
Richard Fuller MP said:
We had a thoughtful conversation about how we can continue building a sustainable future, from how we use renewable energy, to the design of our towns and transport systems. We spoke about the role of renewable energy and how different sources suit different geographical areas and discussed the role of wind and nuclear in the UK’s energy mix . We both agreed that solar panels should be placed sensibly, such as on warehouse rooftops first, rather than productive farmland,.
We also discussed how new towns and housing developments present an exciting opportunity to embed sustainability from the outset; by integrating circular economy principles into their design.
Finally, we discussed the future of cars. While electric vehicles may play a role in more sustainable travel, we noted that the current technology still poses challenges, particularly for longer journeys. We also touched on the exciting potential of driverless vehicles and how innovation could transform the way we move.
It was great to hear Juliet’s ideas and enthusiasm on these topics - thanks again to Juliet and to everyone who took part in the lobby.
