Richard recently returned to Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (Beds RCC) in Cardington where he learnt more about their new ‘You Can Do IT!’ digital champions program and offered to help spread the word to find more volunteers. You can learn more in Richard's video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0U3E8glt5M.

This initiative tackles digital exclusion head-on across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough - helping adults, especially older people and those on lower incomes, gain the confidence and skills to use smartphones, tablets, and computers safely.

Through one-to-one support from volunteers in community settings — and soon, home visits — learners are guided through a six-week program tailored to their needs. It’s not just about tech skills; it’s about building confidence, staying safe online, and solving problems together.

Since 2022, the program has delivered over 2,200 sessions to 300 learners, loaned devices to 50 people, and continues to grow thanks to support from The Connolly Foundation.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Huge credit to the dedicated staff and volunteers at BedsRCC for making digital inclusion a reality for so many, but to do more, the charity is organising help groups of volunteers in towns and villages across North Bedfordshire and have a specific need in Sharnbrook, Potton, Bromham and Biggleswade.

If you know the basics of using a computer or mobile phone and are willing to help others learn the same, please contact Beds Rural Communities Charity through: https://bedsrcc.org.uk/you-can-do-it/
