Richard recently appeared on Andy Collins' BBC 3CR Radio breakfast show to discuss East West Rail. The programme had interviewed a number of pupils from Biddenham School and Richard responded to some of the points that they had raised.

Richard Fuller MP said:

One assertion was that with Universal Studios in the pipeline, the case for East West Rail is strengthened. I pointed out that in my discussions with Universal, they had shown little interest in the section of the railway between Bedford and Cambridge although it is fair to say that the Milton Keynes to Bedford upgrade was desirable.

I remain opposed to East West Rail due to the huge amounts of taxpayers' money that the scheme will waste, plus the fact that it will be the vehicle for substantial additional house building across the North of Bedfordshire on currently untouched countryside. At the very least if the project is to go ahead then a Southern route as preferred by Mayor Tom Wootton is preferable given that it is a more favourable route topographically and far less environmentally damaging.
