Age UK have written to Richard to share information about their 'Offline and Overlooked' campaign. More than 1 in 3 over 65s (4.7 million) lack the basic skills to use the internet successfully and 1 in 6 (2.3 million) don’t use it at all.
Age UK's campaign highlights the many issues that confront those who are not comfortable using the internet so they have produced step-by-step digital instruction guides to help them make sense of the online world. These guides can be used by older individuals themselves, or friends and family members. There are guides for users at every level and they include information on:
- Sending and receiving emails
- Online shopping
- Staying safe online
Age UK also have a ‘making the most of the internet’ webpage which covers a number of topics to support those who would like to be online. Please share this information with any friends or relatives who may benefit from help with accessing and making sense of the internet.
