Last week Richard checked in with Lucy at the Ride Leisure Centre at Wyboston Lakes as she prepares for the new leisure season.

This lakeside business provides water-based entertainment and experiences for individuals and groups. Sadly, last year, the fun was interrupted by the serious floods we all experienced in the Autumn.
At the meeting we discussed a series of flood-related issues including the response of the Environment Agency, flood management upstream, and mitigation actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of serious flood events in the future. We also spoke about Bedford Borough Council’s recent Flood Forum and the Water Management Alliance that I helped Mayor Tom put together over the last few months.
I look forward to continuing to discuss flooding with residents and businesses over the coming months and will revisit Ride Leisure Centre after what will hopefully be a very successful and flood-free year.
