Last week, Richard Fuller MP and Blake Stephenson MP received a reply from the Education Minister to their letter about school places in Bedford Borough and the future of the new free school (known as St Neots Academy).

Richard Fuller MP said:

Whilst I appreciate the new Government is going through its review process, the underlying need for an additional Borough school to be built urgently has not changed.

There is insufficient capacity in local secondary schools and those pressures are increasing month on month as new housing comes on stream and the consequences of Labour's Education Tax on independent schools take hold.

The time delay to complete a new school build means these pressures are unlikely to abate for at least three further school years.

Let us hope the government can see the urgency here.

The reply from the Department for Education can be read here. The original letter can be read here.
