This week, Richard planted a Remembrance stake in the House of Commons Constituency Garden of Remembrance in New Palace Yard within Parliament's grounds. The garden represents each of the 650 constituencies of the United Kingdom. The garden was created by the Speaker of the House of Commons in partnership with the Royal British Legion and has been installed in New Palace Yard every November since 2021.
The garden is an opportunity for MPs to participate in an act of remembrance at Parliament that represents the entire United Kingdom. There are also gardens for the Commonwealth and the UK Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies where High Commissioners and UK Representatives are also invited to plant tributes, honouring the sacrifice made in defending our democratic freedoms and way of life.

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day on Monday, I laid a poppy cross in the Parliament Garden of Remembrance in memory of the men and women of North Bedfordshire who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
