Richard was pleased to be joined by his fellow Bedfordshire MP, Blake Stephenson, and representatives of the Office of Mohammad Yasin and Alastair Strathern to meet with Kinship Carers from across Bedfordshire.
Speaking afterwards, Richard Fuller MP said:
During our meeting we discussed the unique difficulties faced by kinship carers and the need for more support to be provided by both national and local government to assist families who provide for their relatives in this way.
I was pleased to hear that some steps are being taken already around financial support, including by Bedford Borough Council in my constituency, but more must be done to establish a national standard for kinship care at a minimum level across local authorities.
I look forward to working with my fellow Bedfordshire MPs on a cross-party basis in the coming months to support kinship carers in Parliament.
