Bedford Borough Council is encouraging applications for two exciting new grant schemes funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).
There are two grant streams available:
𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀:
This grant supports initiatives that strengthen social connections and build a sense of community spirit. Examples include purchasing equipment for local volunteer groups, improving facilities for community events, or launching new social action projects.
𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀:
This grant aims to enhance the natural environment and create inviting public spaces for residents to enjoy. Examples include establishing community gardens, improving existing green spaces, greening of streets and paths, or incorporating natural features into public areas.
Richard Fuller MP said:
I would encourage rural communities to apply and access funding which could make a real difference to their areas.
Key details about the grants:
- Grants are available to community organisations in eligible rural areas of Bedford Borough.
- Funding is for capital investment only (e.g., equipment, materials, renovations).
- A funding pot of £67,500 is available for each grant scheme.
- Individual grants range from £1,000 to a maximum of £10,000.
- All projects must be completed by 5th January 2025.

Bedford Borough Council successfully secured £552,352 from the Rural England Prosperity Funding (administered via DEFRA).
