Last weekend, Richard attended the Bedford River Festival. It was the 22nd biennial Bedford River Festival to be held, the first being held in 1978 to commemorate the opening of the river from Bedford to the Wash.

As well as enjoying the many events on the river and the surrounding green spaces, Richard spoke to a number of stall holders including the NFU and the National Highways team working on the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet project.

Richard Fuller MP said:

It was great to see Emily Brown of the National Farmers’ Union at Bedford River Festival, doing a great job of promoting British food and the agriculture sector in general that represents such an important part of my North Bedfordshire constituency.

I was also pleased to see National Highways engaging with the public and sharing updates on the Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements. Of course any development of this scope will cause significant disruption, but I've received a lot of feedback about how well the project is being managed, with real thought given to ways in which motorists are kept fully informed and disruptions kept to a minimum.

With so much to see and do, the Bedford River Festival is a truly unique feature of our wonderful county town.
