NE grassroots sport funding 23/24

Richard has welcomed the news that North East Bedfordshire will benefit from £766,704 in new funding as a result of the government’s long-term investment in grassroots sports.

Nationally, over 1,100 projects are receiving funding towards facilities such as changing rooms, pavilions, state of the art 3G football turf, goalposts, and floodlights, improving access to sport and physical activity for local communities.

This builds on historic investment in grassroots sport. Since 2021, the government has helped deliver new facilities or improvements at almost 2,400 sites across the UK, getting more than 120,000 people active. These grants form part of an overall government between 2021 and 2025 to help level-up grassroots facilities across the country.

Commenting, Richard Fuller MP said:

There is a clear link between feeling your best, both mentally and physically, and exercising regularly.

So I am delighted that sports facilities in my constituency benefited from the latest round of government funding for grassroots sports projects.

The bulk of funding in North East Bedfordshire is awarded to Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade who secured £750,000 towards the cost of their artificial grass pitch upgrade and floodlights.

Raynsford Academy secured £11,000 towards fencing and new goalposts, Arlesey Town Youth FC secured £1,440 towards new goalposts and Sandy Tigers FC  £4,200 towards pitch maintenance equipment.
