The second of Richard's investigations into local water treatment centres was recently held at New Road, Great Barford.
Richard was joined by the Parish Council Chair and local Borough Councillors on the visit to the Anglian Water facility.
Speaking after the visit, Richard Fuller MP said:
We had a wide range of questions to cover including the adequacy of current capacity at the water treatment centre for existing and planned housing and on incidents of leakage from street manhole covers. On the issue of capacity, although this is something Anglian Water assess as and when housing is confirmed, there was confidence that the current facility will be able to cope with foreseeable levels of new housing.
I will continue to make the case for the River Great Ouse in Bedfordshire to seek Safe Bathing Water Status. I understand the difficulties and costs that this may impose on the Borough Council, but there are long term benefits for residents who want to enjoy the river for swimming or kayaking if we can take steps to meet these standards.
Earlier this year, Richard visited the water treatment works in Odell. For more information on this visit, please see https://www.richardfuller.co.uk/news/richard-visits-anglian-water-treatment-works-odell
