Richard with Helen of Rectory Farm

Last week, Richard visited Rectory Farm in his constituency.

Speaking after the visit, Richard Fuller MP said:

I am grateful to Helen at Rectory Farm near St Neots for inviting me to visit her farm.

Not only does Helen have to contend with the issues affecting all farmers; the transition from the EU direct payments to the new Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes, the rising costs of inputs such as fertiliser and uncertainty over crop yields and value, Rectory Farm sits at the confluence of the major infrastructure projects affecting the area.

It has already been confirmed that the new A428 will run directly through their land, and it is also highly possible that East West Rail will rip through the local landscape. It is not just the visual impact of these schemes; EWR is expected to be elevated 15-16m above the ground, but also the disturbance and pollution caused by potentially several years of construction.
